With this era of competition, stress and anxiety have become the inseparable part of our lives. In the survey conducted on the occasion of Mental Health Awareness Week (14-20 May), it is being found that around 48 % of the population is suffering from extreme level of stress.

In the earlier time, stress was basically experienced by the people after the age of 20 years. However, as the world is moving towards modernization extreme level of stress is being inculcated in the teenagers also. As the exams and results are around the corner students are undergoing a lot of mental pressure and anxiety. They all are running in the rat race of scoring good grades at a cost of their mental health and peace.

Not just students rather adults are also going through a lot of stress of achieving heights in their carrier, proving themselves, finding the right partner and much more. If we will begin to list out the causes of stress, day and nights may be consumed but the list would never end.

Consume a healthy diet

A healthy diet can fill you with new excitement and liveliness. Most of the youngsters have this misconception that consuming alcohol and tobacco products can reduce their stress. One thing to be understood here is that they may provide you relief in the short run but when you talk about your long-term health alcohol often act as a depressant. Thus consuming these products as a way to alleviate stress is not helpful ultimately.

Undergo physical activity

The level of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol increases drastically in your body in the stressful situations. With regular physical activities, you metabolize the excessive stress hormones and restore your body and mind to a calmer, more relaxed state.

Manage your time

Giving time to something you love to do is extremely important. Take out some time from your busy in a day to do things that make you happy. This practice can help you in managing the stress level to a great extent. The stress of all the work that you are required to do in your entire day can be balanced with the work you love to do.

Get enough sleep

Improper sleep is the biggest cause of stress.  To stay rejuvenated it is imperative to take a proper and sound sleep. Thus before going to sleep tries to make your mind calmer and stop thinking about the things that make you stressed.

Talk! Talk! Talk.Discussing things that make you depressed and hopeless can help in a great way. When you talk it out with somebody you start to feel lighter and calmer.

Learn to say no

One of the major causes of stress is more work pressure and little time.  You must work hard to complete all your tasks on time. However running crazily after something and trying to do what is practically not possible creates a lot of worry and trauma. Thus learn to say no to additional or unimportant requests will help to reduce your level of stress.

It’s okay to lose

Its okay to lose, but don’t lose the lesson! Winning and losing is a part and parcel of life. Sometimes you win and other times you may lose also. One thing that is important for us to learn is getting up after falling once. Taking strain in a situation won’t help us rather getting up and trying again will work.  Whether you are failing in an exam or you failed at any of the exams taken by life do not give up.  Work harder and try to achieve the goals. The more motivated you will stay the less stressed you will feel.
